The ground rules

Terms of Use

The terms on which this website is offered — what you may do with what you find here, what happens when you donate or apply, and what we can and cannot promise. Please read them before you use the site.

Agreeing to these terms

By using shivgangajhabua.org — reading it, writing to us through it, donating through it, or applying through it — you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

These terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy and our Refund Policy, which form part of them.

Who we are

This site is run by Shivganga Samagra Gramvikas Parishad, a voluntary society registered under the Madhya Pradesh Society Registration Adhiniyam, 1973, registration number 03/27/03/10295/07, PAN AADAS4039H, with its registered office at 50 A Lokmanya Nagar Extension, Indore – 452009, Madhya Pradesh, India, and its Gurukul at Gram Dharampuri, Gram Panchayat Charoli Pada, District Jhabua – 457661.

Donations to the society qualify for exemption under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961, under F.No. CIT-I/Ind/Tech/80G/08/09-10 dated 24/12/2009, Sl. No. 51/2009-10, with provisional approval number AADAS4039HF20206.

Using the site

You are welcome to read anything here, to share it, to link to it, and to quote from it with credit. Teachers, students and journalists writing about Jhabua are especially welcome to use this material.

What you must not do:

  • Use the site, or anything on it, for any unlawful purpose.
  • Copy the site’s content and present it as your own, or use it to raise money for anyone other than Shivganga.
  • Impersonate Shivganga or any person connected with it, or set up a page, account or payment link that appears to collect donations on our behalf without our written permission.
  • Attempt to break into, overload, probe or disrupt the site or the servers behind it, or to get at any part of it you have not been given access to.
  • Harvest addresses or personal details from the site, or scrape it in bulk in a way that interferes with its running.
  • Upload or send anything containing malicious code, or anything abusive, defamatory or obscene.

If we find the site being misused in these ways, we may block access to it without notice.

Donations

Donations made here are voluntary gifts to the society’s work in Jhabua. They are not payment for goods or services, and they buy no entitlement, membership, vote or influence over what we do.

  • Donations are accepted in Indian rupees and are taken by our payment gateway, Razorpay. Your payment is subject to Razorpay’s own terms as well as these.
  • Where you give a purpose — a well, a Matavan, a campaign — we apply the gift to that work. If that work is already funded or cannot go ahead, we will use the gift elsewhere in the same programme, and will tell you if you ask.
  • A receipt is emailed to the address you give. The 80G certificate is issued against the PAN and name you enter, so please enter them exactly as they appear on your PAN card — a receipt cannot be reissued in a different name.
  • Recurring donations are set up here at https://new-version.shivgangajhabua.org/recurring-donation and continue until you cancel them. How to cancel is set out in the Refund Policy.
  • You confirm that the money is yours to give, that it comes from a lawful source, and that the card, account or UPI handle used is yours or is used with permission.

Donors outside India. Contributions from foreign sources are governed separately in India by the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010, and cannot simply be given through this page. If you hold a foreign passport, or are giving from outside India, please write to contact@shivgangajhabua.org before you donate and we will tell you what is possible.

Refunds are dealt with in the Refund Policy.

Interning, volunteering and visiting

Applying through this site to intern, to volunteer, to join a Halma or to visit Jhabua is an enquiry, not a booking. We will read it and reply, but places are limited and we cannot take everyone who asks.

  • An internship or fellowship with Shivganga is not employment. It carries no salary, no offer of employment afterwards, and no claim on the society.
  • Your own travel, insurance, health and safety remain your responsibility. Jhabua is rural, and parts of the work are physical and take place outdoors in heat.
  • While you are with us you are expected to behave as a guest in the villages: to respect the people, their customs and their privacy, to take no photograph of anyone who does not want one taken, and to follow what the local team tells you.
  • We may end a placement or a visit at any time if that expectation is not met.
  • If you are under eighteen, you may apply only with the written consent of a parent or guardian.

What is on the site, and who owns it

The text, photographs, films, drawings, data and design on this site belong to Shivganga Samagra Gramvikas Parishad, or are used here with the permission of the people who own them. The name Shivganga, the words Vikas ka Jatan and the Shivganga mark are ours.

You may reproduce short extracts and individual photographs for study, teaching, reporting or to tell others about the work, provided you credit Shivganga Samagra Gramvikas Parishad and do not change their sense. For anything commercial, for reproduction at length, or for any use of our name or mark, please ask us first. We rarely say no.

Anything you send us

When you send us a message, a photograph, a piece of writing or a reflection on a visit, you keep it as yours. You do confirm that it is yours to send, and you allow us to use it in connection with our work — on this site, in a report, or in something we publish — with your name unless you ask us not to. Tell us at any time and we will stop using it.

What we cannot promise

We put this site together carefully and correct mistakes when we find them, but it is offered as it stands.

  • Figures on the site — villages reached, structures built, water harvested, people at a Halma — are as recorded at the time of writing. They are honest, and they are not audited statements of account. Our audited accounts are the authority on money.
  • Nothing here is professional advice — not legal, not financial, not tax, not medical. On whether a donation of yours qualifies for exemption, and for how much, consult your own tax adviser.
  • The site may be unavailable at times, for maintenance or for reasons outside our control, and we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or free of errors.
  • We may add to, change or withdraw any part of the site at any time.

Other people’s sites and services

This site links out to, or is served by, things we do not control: Razorpay for payments, Google Maps and YouTube where a map or a film is embedded, Google Analytics, our own pages on social media, press coverage, and the sites of partner organisations. We link to them because they are useful, not because we vouch for everything on them, and we are not responsible for their content or for what they do with your information. Their terms apply once you are with them.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, Shivganga, its trustees, office bearers, staff and volunteers are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this site — for lost profit, lost data, or loss caused by the site being unavailable or by information on it being out of date.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud. Where our liability for a donation is established, it will not exceed the amount of the donation itself.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Indore, Madhya Pradesh, where the society has its registered office, will have jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of this site.

Before it comes to that, please write to us. Most things are settled in an email.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms from time to time. The version on this page is the one in force, and the “last updated” date at the top tells you when it last changed. Using the site after a change means you accept the terms as they then stand. Terms in force at the time of a donation continue to govern that donation.

Who to write to

If anything here is unclear, or you think a clause is wrong or unfair, please tell us. Quote the section number so we know which part you mean.
